INFO Simran (Sonam Kapoor) loves Bollywood romances—so much so that her life has begun to resemble one. With her awesome job and a "Mr. Perfect" fiancé named Raj (Sameer Dattani), she lives a blissful, dreamy life. But in the frame comes Jay, who brings a fresh light and joy in her life. Jay (Imran Khan) is an assistant to a director who is famous for his love story films; however, Jay hates love stories. He does not believe in love and is a Casanova. Quite blunt in his ways, he first hates Simran for her obsession with romance and love stories but soon after becomes her best friend.
After meeting Jay in a movie theater, and getting irritated by him, Simran leaves with a bad impression of him. The next day Simran appoints Jay as her assistant, however she plots to get revenge. But seeing Jay's soft heart behind the cool guy attitude stops her. Soon she develops a bond with him, which brings problems in her life with Raj, her fiancé. Soon, she falls head-over-heels in love with Jay and dreams of spending her entire life with him. She decides to invite him for dinner at a hotel, to confess her feelings.
Simran tells Jay she needs to talk to him to tell him how she feels. When she gets there she sees Jay kissing another girl's hand. She tells him that she loves him and thinks he loves her. Jay explains that he never thought of her that way. After being heartbroken, she leaves. The story then unfolds, with Simran moving from Mumbai to New Zealand for further shooting of the film and premiere, Simran had not given up her love for Jay until now.Jay realizes that she is going far away and doesn't feel good about it. He realises his love for her and goes all the way to New Zealand to confess his feelings for her. Jay plans a romantic dinner and asks Simran to come meet him as he wants to tell her something important. Jay admits that he loves her but this time she rejects him as she does not want to hurt Raj's feelings. A brokenhearted Jay tries to accept the fact that he has lost Simran to Raj. Jay's friends and his mother persuade him to not give up on Simran. Jay with the help of his friends tries to make Simran jealous to make her come back . But he soon realizes that it is wrong to manipulate her feelings as it will only hurt her even more.
Meanwhile, Raj proposes to Simran, and she accepts. But later, at a dinner with Raj, Simran tells him that she doesn't love him and goes to the movie premiere where she hopes to meet Jay. On the other hand Jay is leaving to go to his mother as he has given up all hopes of being with Simran. At the airport he talks to his mother and she again asks him not to give up. After much talk with his mother, Jay, who was about to leave, runs back to the premiere but cannot find Simran. Disheartened he goes outside the theater where he finds Simran. He tells her that he loves her very much. She also expresses to him that she loves him and they hug.
